The Fourth Sunday of Easter is commonly known as Good Shepherd Sunday” due to the yearly recurring theme of the Gospel. Since the Sunday cycle for this year is Cycle B, this year’s Good Shepherd story comes from the Gospel of John.

“I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. […] This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.”

-John 10: 14-15, 17

Excerpt from Inspiration Daily:

“In Christ, who calls himself the Good Shepherd, we are known and healed and saved. This Good Shepherd has sacrificed everything for our sake, laying down His life willingly, and taking it back up again. […] Through Christ’s rejection and death, we are redeemed, received, and given eternal life. In this freedom, we are called to accept this great gift and follow the commands of our Good Shepherd.”
